Bladen County Schools (BCS) has issued important reminders and updates for families as they head into the upcoming week. On Monday, January 20, there will be no school in observance of the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday. In addition, the district is actively monitoring the possibility of inclement weather that could impact school operations next week.

To ensure uninterrupted learning in case of adverse weather conditions, BCS teachers have taken proactive steps by preparing assignments in Canvas or sending work home with students. These measures are designed to facilitate a smooth transition to remote learning if necessary. Families can expect an official update regarding school operations for Tuesday, January 21, by no later than 6 p.m. on Monday, January 20.

BCS emphasizes the importance of staying informed about potential schedule changes and encourages parents and guardians to use multiple communication channels to receive updates. The district will provide information through the following methods:

Phone and Text Messages: Guardians connected to students in Infinite Campus will receive notifications. Families can confirm their contact details with their child’s school data manager.

• Remind App: Messages will be sent through this platform for instant updates.

Social Media: Updates will be posted on the district and school Facebook pages.

BCS Mobile App: The app, available in the App Store and Google Play Store, is a valuable resource for caregivers, including grandparents and child care providers.

District and School Websites: A pop-up box on the website homepage will provide timely updates.

Local Media: Announcements will also be shared with local news outlets.

BCS appreciates the community’s support and cooperation as they work to keep students safe and learning uninterrupted during uncertain weather conditions. Families are encouraged to download the BCS Mobile App and confirm their contact information to stay connected.

Bladen County Schools wishes everyone a safe and enjoyable long weekend.
