March 17, 2020 Update:
Bladen County Schools will be transitioning to a new model for instructional delivery beginning Thursday, March 19 for at-home learning. Our school campuses will be open tomorrow, Wednesday, March 18 from 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM to allow parents to pick-up their child’s take-home work packet. Parents and guardians are encouraged to pick up packets for neighbors or other’s children in their community with transportation issues.
Each school will have a packet assigned by the student name for the purpose of reviewing and practicing previously taught course content. The packet will include paper and pencil activities. In addition, students will have the opportunity to extend learning through supplemental resources and activities through this period of school closure.
Where possible, teachers have also posted their instructional materials online in Google Classroom and school websites. Be sure to watch the video on our district website, “The Parent’s Guide to Google Classroom”, which will help navigate your child’s teacher’s online classroom.
Students who take online courses through the college or NCVPS should continue instruction and follow their respective guidelines.
Our Instructional Technology Facilitators (Mrs. Reeves and Mr. Clark) have developed a one-stop site of approved web tools for teachers and students to use. They will continue to add resources so check back often for updates. You can access the site, Digital Teaching and Learning, on our district website.
While this new delivery method will be a learning process for students, caregivers and educators alike, we are confident that working cooperatively will help our students, their classmates, and teachers remain connected and engaged even when campuses are closed. We thank you in advance for your flexibility and patience as we implement at-home learning. As with any new initiative, some elements will require refinement, and we encourage students and families to contact us for troubleshooting support.
