We understand many of you have questions about NC Pre-K and the recent announcement made by Governor Cooper to re-open schools for the 2020-2021 school year and the Bladen County Schools K – 12 School Reopening Plans that was released yesterday.

The state NC Pre-K office is working on more detailed guidance specific to NC Pre-K and our re-opening expectations. Preschool programs, including the BCS Pre-K program, will follow the NC Interim Guidance for Child Care Settings, ChildCareStrong. While similar to the K – 12 public health guidance, the NC Interim Guidance for Child Care Settings guidance is better suited for early learning.

We expect the final state guidance to be available in the early part of next week as it must be reviewed by the state Interim Director, Dr. Snuggs, and Deputy Director of DHHS, Susan Perry before we can share it.

The good news is that Bladen County Schools will operate its Pre-K program for the 2020-2021 school year.  As we move closer to the start of school, we will be sharing specific, granular details of how Pre-K learning will take place, including the processes and expectations focused on how to best support our youngest students.  Pre-K registration and screening remain open for the 2020-2021 school year.

The Bladen County Board of Education will meet this evening, Monday, July 20, 2020 at 6:00 p.m. The meeting will be held virtually. No information for the public to join the meeting has been announced at this time.
