Bladen County Sheriffs Officials are searching for a suspect involved in a breaking and entering on Old Boardman Road.

The Bladen County Sheriffs Office is using a helicopter to search for the suspect who is alleged to have attempted to break into a home and then fled.

NC 242 was closed briefly between NC 410 and Old Boardman Road. The road is now open to traffic.

Bladen County Sheriff Jim McVicker said on Monday afternoon a man came home and caught someone coming out of the house. Sheriff McVicker said the suspect hit the victim’s truck with his vehicle and a short time later the suspect drove into a ditch. After striking the ditch the suspect jumped out of his vehicle and ran.

Sheriff McVicker said deputies were able to recover the property that was stolen from the suspect’s crashed vehicle.

The Bladen County Sheriffs Office was assisted by the North Carolina Highway Patrol and Bladen County EMS.

Bladen Online will have more details on this story as they become available.
