The Bladen County Shrine Club cooked up another successful fish fry with their annual spring fraternal fish fry held at the Food Lion parking lot on Wednesday. Shriner Phillip Little said that at about noon, the crowd had been steady and he expected that to continue throughout the day.

A folks lined up, smiling and laughing as they waited their turn to receive a plate. Local elected officials also lent their support to the event. folks had the option to take their plates with them or take a seat at one of the picnic tables beside the main tent, enjoy some good southern hospitality, and enjoy a plate of hot, fresh fish, slaw, sweet potato fries and hush puppies and tea.

Shriners said they were pleased with the overall turnout and look forward to the “big” fish fry which will be held in the fall. Funds from the fraternal fish fry go to support the club’s programs and to help defray costs associated with the fall fish fry.
