With many Bladen County residents still repairing damaged homes and businesses from Hurricane Matthew, they were spared any additional damage from a line of severe storms on Monday night. A line of strong thunderstorms passed through Bladen County overnight prompting the National Weather Service office to issue two separate tornado warnings for Bladen County. The first warning was issued shortly before midnight for a storm which was located near Whiteville that was capable of producing a tornado according to the Doppler Radar system which indicated some rotation with the storm.

A second tornado warning was issued for Bladen County at about 5:30 a.m. for a second thunderstorm located near Abbottsburg that Doppler Radar indicated could have a potential tornado. That warning expired at 6:30 a.m. More thunderstorms and rain are expected throughout the day today.

Bladen County Emergency Management Director Bradley Kinlaw said that no damage has been reported to Bladen County Emergency Management officials.
