A Bladen County student has spent her years as a student attending Bladen County Schools dreaming about the the day she will attend a college of her choice. She has written a poignant essay on GoFundMe asking for those who feel led to donate to helping her to make that dream come true.
Maria Lopez Gonzalez wrote an essay for GoFundMe called “My Dream School” where she tells her story of attending Governor’s School and making the decision of which college she wishes to attend. She is a graduate of West Bladen High School and has been attending Bladen Community College. Gonzalez has been accepted to N.C. State University.
Gonzalez has been working for several years to obtain her citizenship, but it takes several years to complete the entire process. Due to that, Gonzalez must pay out of state tuition and is ineligible for certain types of financial aid and scholarships.
