Bladen County Students do not have to watch history in the making

By: Charlotte Smith

A lot of comments have been made on social media about the inauguration being held today. Bladen County residents have been socially posting about Bladen County Schools allowing students the option not to watch the Presidential Inauguration.

Eight years ago, some of the same concerns about our local schools allowing students the option to watch the inauguration were posted on local citizens’ social accounts. BladenOnline.com did reach out to Bladen County School’s Valerie Newton, Public Relations and Information Officer to find out the school’s exact policy on this historical day.

Newton said, “We have always given students/parents the choice of whether or not they want their child to watch the inauguration. Just as we did for this year’s inauguration, for previous inaugurations we sent messages home to parents about the choice.”
