Kiwanis Club of Elizabethtown awarded their annual scholarships on Tuesday evening at the Cape Fear Farmer’s Market. The club donated five scholarships to Bladen County students.

Following are the scholarship winners.

Janet Rivera

Janet Rivera was awarded the Key Club Scholarship. She will attend NC State University in the fall and major in Political Science.

Ana Zurita Posas

Ana Zurita Posas was also awarded a Key Club Scholarship. She will be attending UNC-Chapel Hill majoring in Environmental Health Science.

Lila McDuffie

Lila McDuffie won the East Bladen Scholarship. She will attend the UNC-Chapel Hill.

Autumn Brisson

Autumn Brisson was the West Bladen Scholarship award winner. She will attend Campbell University and major in BioChemistry and Pre-Med.

Will deAndrade

Will deAndrade was the private/homeschool scholarship award winner. He will attend UNC-Chapel Hill and major in Chemistry.

Every scholarship awarded was in the amount of 500 dollars.

After the awards ceremony, the club met briefly to discuss continuing the Key Clubs, Terrific Kids program, and the club meetings in the middle of the COVID-19 Pandemic.

According to Dr. Lisa Bryan, July 30 will be a Kiwanis Division 26 virtual district meeting.

The club may meet at Cindy’s restaurant in Elizabethtown the third Tuesday in August at 6:30 p.m.
