Bladen County Commissioners and Citizens continue their concern for the Opioid, Alcohol and Other Substance Abuse Issue in Bladen County.

The Opioid, alcohol, and other substance abuse issue continue to take a dramatic toll on the residents and families of Bladen County. Because of this continued concern, the county requested assistance from the Kate B. Reynolds Foundation to conduct a county-wide needs assessment in order to develop a strategic action plan. The county will begin to identify the depth of the issue, identify services and community supports needed to combat the issue of substance abuse.

A local task force was formed representing a good cross section of citizens’ professionals and services. Bladen County Task Force along with the County’s contractor will be holding community forums in 5 of Bladen County’s communities and reaching out to a wider cross section of professionals and services to determine the depth of the issue, listen to Bladen County Citizen’s concerns and experiences. Information gleaned from these meetings will be used to develop a county wide strategic action plan for dealing with the substance abuse issue.

Please plan to attend one of the following Community Forums to share your experiences and concerns about this issue impacting many of the individuals and families in our Bladen County Community:

Elizabethtown/White Lake: Thursday, July 25th, 6:30 p.m. – Bladen County Library

Healthcare Professionals: Thursday, August 15th, 6:30 p.m. – Bladen County Health Department
