Bladen County will hold an open public meeting on Friday, March 3, 2017, at 11 am at Bladen County Courthouse, Commissioner Meeting Room. The purpose of this meeting will be to discuss the county’s Resilient Redevelopment Planning process that is being carried out in 50 counties across the central and eastern part of the state in response to the effects of Hurricane Matthew in October 2016.

This process is being carried out as part of a program initiated by the North Carolina General Assembly under the 2016 Disaster Recovery Act (Session Law 2016-124). The purpose of this program is to assist communities by developing strategic, resilient redevelopment actions and to define any unmet funding requirements needed to implement such actions. The plans will also provide the foundation for the state’s Recovery Action Plan that is required by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development before the state can expend the funding it received from the Community Development Block Grant- Disaster Relief (CDBG-DR) program.

Any interested citizens are encouraged to attend.
