It appears folks in Bladen County will see another weekend of wintry weather. The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch beginning midnight Friday through noon Saturday.

Last weekend, many areas of the county experienced freezing rain, although accumulation was light.

This weekend, according to the watch, freezing rain will be the primary wintry precipitation. Widespread significant ice accumulations are possible with early estimates at 0.20 to 0.40 inches, except around one tenth of an inch along the immediate coast.

The expected ice accumulations will make traveling extremely hazardous if not impossible. Power outages and tree damage will likely occur with these potential ice amounts.

The freezing rain is forecast to begin late Thursday night as temperatures dip to around 28 degree. Friday the freezing rain is expected to continue into the evening with the high near 30. There’s a chance of some snow before 7 a.m. Saturday.
