UnemploymentThe unemployment rate for Bladen County for the month of December of 2014 decreased from 8.1 percent in November of 2014 to the rate of 7.8 percent. Bladen’s rate, although it decreased, still lagged behind other Bladen neighboring counties.

 December unemployment rates for the following counties were: Brunswick 6.5, Columbus 7.4, Cumberland 6.1, Duplin 6.0, Hoke 5.6, New Hanover 4.9, Onslow 5.6, Pender 5.4, Sampson 5.3 and Robeson 7.6.

 Bladen’s unemployment rate for December of 2013 was  9.9 percent.

 Fifty-six counties in the state showed a decrease in unemployment while twenty-six showed an increase and sixteen went unchanged. Graham County had the highest unemployment with12.3 percent while Chatham had the lowest at 3.8 percent.
