Bladen Disaster Recovery Team announces long term plans on WECT

The Bladen Disaster Recovery Team (BDRT) met with some news and elected representatives this week to discuss plans for the long term recovery group, according to Pastor Jason Williams, Chairman of the Board of Directors with the Bladen Disaster Recovery Team.

“This morning, WECT News from Wilmington, North Carolina traveled to the Distribution Center located in Elizabethtown, North Carolina and shot a few interviews with myself and others, while also traveling out to a few homes that were damaged from the Hurricanes,” Pastor Williams explained.

The group discussed processes the long term recovery group has to offer, which includes case management, hazard mitigation, distribution, etc. As well as, what role that the long term recovery group can play within disaster recovery.

The group did learn some things during their meeting as well. They learned about the process of applying for funding from the state and what is in place for funding.

The hope for BDRT is there will be more resources, funding, and awareness about the group as well as more opportunities to assist those in need in Bladen County.

“Again, this was an opportunity to get more awareness of the long term recovery group, while also giving insight to people that do not know what state people’s homes are in ONE YEAR after Hurricane Florence,” Pastor Williams continued.

The special will air on WECT News at 6pm TONIGHT and will also be featured on their website if you miss the 6pm special, according to Pastor Williams announcement.
