Bladen Early College Beta Club members attended the North Carolina State Beta Convention in Greensboro this past weekend. The National Beta Club explains the purpose of Beta Club, “Believing that exemplary student effort and achievement should be encouraged and rewarded, and seeking to cultivate the ideals of service and leadership in our citizens of tomorrow, the governing body of the National Honorary Beta Club has instituted this organization for the promotion of these ideals.”

Holding to the club’s purpose, Bladen Early College High School (BECHS) entered multiple divisions at the State Convention and displayed award-winning talent.

The school took home first place in the Three-Dimensional Design Division.

BECHS students brought home the following awards.

Jayden Dew, won third place in Recyclable Art Division I with a tin man made of soft drink cans.

Isaiah Loftis won 4th place in the Drawing Division I with a realistic drawing of a celebrity.

Abril Mena Martinez won fourth place in the Drawing Division II.

Jenna Dove won fifth place in Fiber Arts Division 1, displaying the Power of Beta.

The club members also won second place in Small Group Talent and fifth place for their submission in the Club Trading Pin Division.

Bladen Early College High School expressed their appreciation for their club sponsor, Ms. Meehan, or as they call her, “Wonder Woman.” The students surprised her with flowers and a card before they left the convention.

On social media, Bladen Early College High School confirmed they plan to compete at the National Convention. They stated, “We had a blast in Greensboro, and in June, we plan to take Louisville, Kentucky by storm! Watch out, Nationals, here we come!”
