The 12th annual Bladen County Educational Foundation’s Jail-A-Thon is set for Thursday, November 21 from 1-4:30 p.m. inside the Board of Education’s public meeting room.
The Foundation and its Jail-A-Thon raises funds for the Bladen County school system.
During the Jail-A-Thon, community leaders are “arrested” by a police officer and transported to the Board of Education at 1489 US 701 South across the street from Elizabethtown Middle School. The person appears before a “judge” to receive “charges” and then “fined” and “sentenced.” The “inmate” must make telephone calls to friends and co-workers to raise “bail” to earn their “freedom.”
