Bladen County’s fire departments are teaming up with the NC Fire Marshal’s Office to install smoke detectors in homes throughout the county on Saturday, June 23.

Bladen County Fire Marshal Kenneth Clark said each fire department in the county is planning to go out in their communities to install the smoke detectors on that date.

From Jan. 1, 2018, to May 1, 2018, there have been 1,339 fire-related deaths in the United States, according to the US Fire Administration’s website. Of that number, 69 deaths occurred in North Carolina. In Bladen County, there have been two fire-related deaths so far this year, said Clark.

“Smoke detectors save lives,” said Clark.

If your home does not have a smoke detector and you would like to have one installed, contact the Bladen County Fire Marshal’s Office by calling 910-862-6755 or contact your local fire department.
