ELIZABETHTOWN- Guard Malcolm Bolden threw in16 points Tuesday night to lead Elizabethtown to a 34-14 boys basketball victory over Tar Heel in the Bladen Five Middle School Tournament.

Bolden hit a free throw then nailed a 3-point shot and another basket to spark an 11-2 Cougar spurt to start the game. Raymond Autry sank a free throw and another basket, and Ty Mathis dropped in a basket for the Cougars.

Center Lancine Soumanoro worked inside for the only Panther basket of the period.

Soumanoro and Gustavo Bravo pumped in baskets for Tar Heel in the second quarter.

Jacob Nixon and Bolden delivered baskets that kept the Cougar lead at 15-6 at halftime.

Bolden lit up the scoreboard with four Cougar baskets in the third quarter, and Autry banged in a pair of baskets and hit 2 free throws. Ahmad Powell tossed in a basket as the Elizabethtown lead grew to 31-11.

Soumanoro powered inside for a pair of third-quarter baskets, and Candelaria made a free throw. Soumanoro dropped in a basket in the final period, and Corey Clanton sank a free throw.

Timothy McLean popped in the final Cougar basket, and Tyveon Graham tacked on a free throw.

Autry finished with 9 points for the Cougars, while Soumanoro topped the Panther scoring list with 10 points.

Coach Larry Williams’ Cougars remained unbeaten at 9-0 and will play Bladenboro in Thursday’s championship game.
