The Bladen County Masonic Lodge No. 646 A. F. and A. M. in Elizabethtown gave a donation to support the Masonic Home for Children, the Masonic and Eastern Star, and the NC Masonic Foundation on Monday night. The Lodge conducted a raffle for a Mossberg 12-gauge semi-automatic rifle which was sponsored by Bladen Hardware and the funds were given to the named philanthropies. Past Master Mike Wyatt said the fundraiser generated $2,489.08 to be divided among the three charities.

The rifle was won by Larry Simmons of Bladenboro. This was the third year the Lodge has conducted the raffle.

The Lodge also recognized the two members who sold the most tickets for the raffle. They were Job Connor who sold 100 tickets and Horace Wyatt who sold 200 tickets. The other members were also thanked for their efforts as well.

“Without your efforts this wouldn’t be possible,” said Wyatt.

Charles Everett of the Lebanon Lodge, accepted the donation and assisted in drawing the winning ticket.

“I do appreciate everything that you do. You don’t know how much it really means. I’ve experienced it when I was a kid,” said Everett.

He encouraged everyone to visit the Masonic Home for Children. Everett said a Homecoming is planned for the Masonic Children’s Home in Oxford for October 13.
