On Monday afternoon the Town of Elizabethtown issued a State of Emergency and Imposed a curfew for the area. Also, the Bladen County NAACP has requested a permit for a parade and protest to be held in Elizabethtown this evening.

Although it was announce by Town of Elizabethtown Communications Director, Terri Dennison that the parade route will be from Paul R. Brown Academy in Elizabethtown, down Martin Luther King Boulevard to Swanzy Street, ending in the Fresh Food Parking Lot. The Ms. Minnie Price with the Paul R. Brown Leadership Academy said the parade would not start at the school.

Rev. Corey Lyons said the parade would start at Mt. Zion AME Zion Church on Martin Luther King Boulevard.  The parade is scheduled for 6 p.m.

Due to current events in surrounding areas, Mayor Sylvia Campbell has issued a proclamation declaring a state of emergency for Elizabethtown.
The proclamation calls for a curfew to be in effect, starting at 8:30PM and ending at 6AM from Monday, June 1 to Monday, June 8.

The curfew excludes all law enforcement, fire. EMS, rescue, medical, and local government personnel. During the curfew hours, individuals are not to use the public streets and rights-of-way.
