The Force capitalized on 14 walks to defeat the Racers 14-10 Tuesday night in Bladen Recreation 11-12 softball action at County Park.

Katlynn Tatum reached base on an error in the Racer first inning and eventually scored the game’s first run. Hailey Guyton reached base on a fielder’s choice and Amber Jones walked. Both Guyton and Jones scored to push the Racer lead to 3-0.

Emily Pait was hit by a pitch, Megan West walked, and Lauren Pait reached base on an error to begin the Force half of the first. All three of them scored to tie the game.

Lauren Gooden, Makayla Wright, Madison Larrimore, Hannah Pait and Amber Hickman drew walks and all of them scored. Alyssa Benson walked, and Kylee Kellum’s fielder’s choice drove in Hickman with the final run of the inning as the Force took an 8-3 lead.

Lauren Council smacked a 2-out single, and Tatum reached base on an error in the Racer second inning.  Abigail Collins knocked in Council with a single, and Tatum dashed home on a wild pitch to trim the Force lead to 8-5.

Whitney McLean, Emily Pait, West and Lauren Pait drew walks to begin the Force second inning and all four of them scored. Gooden belted a single, and Wright, Larrimore, Hannah Pait and Hickman all walked.

Gooden and Wright scored runs to stretch the Force lead to 14-5, before the Racers pulled off a pitcher-to-first base-to catcher triple play to end the inning.

Jones, Cheyanne Merritt, Sydney Gardner, and Mary Katelyn Lennon all drew walks in the Racer third inning. Kayla Bell was hit by a pitch, and Hayley Evers reached base on an error.

Merritt was forced home with a run when Bell was hit by a pitch. Evers was hit by a pitch, and Council’s fielder’s choice plated Gardner. Tatum hammered a 3-run double to centerfield that scored Lennon, Bell and Evers.

West pitched the first 2 innings to pick up the pitching victory. Gooden had the only Force hit.

Tatum’s 3-run double led the Racer hitters. Council and Collins connected for the other Racer hits.
