Kayleigh Raynor and Lauren Bowen combined to pitch a one-hit shutout Tuesday night as the Glory defeated the Sandpipers 16-0 in Bladen Recreation 11-12 softball action at County Park.

Raynor struck out 8 of the 9 batters that she faced in 3 perfect innings of work in the circle. Bowen pitched the fourth inning and allowed a lead-off single to Acee Campbell and a walk to AnnaGrey Heustess, before ending the game by striking out the final batter. Raynor picked up the win.

Lachelle Parks beat out an infield hit, and Bowen ripped a single through the left side to start the Glory first inning. Both Parks and Bowen scored on an error. Katie Evans legged out an infield hit, and scored on Alyssa Futrell’s infield hit for a 3-0 lead.

Parks started the second inning with a single, and Bowen walloped an inside-the-park home run to left-centerfield. Evans smacked a single, and Raynor knocked her in with a single to leftfield. Futrell walked, and Hannah Cole and Merritt Martin were both hit by pitches to force home Raynor and push the margin to 7-0.

Luz Ramos and Parks were both hit by pitches to begin the third inning. Bowen walked, and Raynor was hit by a pitch to force home Ramos. Bowen darted home on an error to pad the lead to 9-0.

Martin and Weslyn Hall drew walks to start the Glory fourth inning. Ramos beat out an infield hit, and Parks walked to force home Martin. Bowen hammered a triple to rightfield that scored Hall, Ramos and Parks. Bowen scored on a wild pitch, and Evans and Raynor both walked, before Futrell laced a 2-run single that scored Evans and Raynor.

Bowen batted a perfect 3-3 with a home run, a triple and 5 runs batted in to lead the Glory hitters. Parks and Futrell both batted a perfect 2-2. Futrell racked up 3 rbi’s, and Parks and Martin had one rbi each.

Evans finished 2-3 at the plate, and Raynor and Ramos connected for one hit each. Raynor drove in 2 runs. 

Heustess pitched all four innings for the Sandpipers and struck out 4 batters.
