The Thunder broke a scoreless tie with a 5-run third-inning en route to a 6-4 victory over the Force Thursday night in Bladen Recreation 11-12 Softball action at County Park.

Haley Bryan and Lainey Autry drew walks to begin the Thunder third inning. Lainey Hughes, Rylee Chadwick and Savannah Turbeville cracked back-to-back-to back singles that scored Bryan, Autry, Hughes and Chadwick. One out later Kaden Thurman knocked in Turbeville with a single for the fifth run of the inning.

The Force answered with 2 runs in the fourth. Kylee Ward belted a lead-off single, and Michaiah Carson, Ava Mohr and Brooke Priest drew walks that forced home Ward. Taylor’s fielder’s choice plated Carson.

Laci Storms and Bryan drew walks in the Thunder fourth inning, and Hughes smacked a single that scored Storms to pad their lead to 6-2.

Hannah Pait walked in the Force fourth inning, and Ward reached base on a throwing error. Kaitlynn Brisson was hit by a pitch, Carson’s fielder’s choice scored Pait, and Mohr walked. Priest’s infield hit scored Ward and trimmed the margin to 6-4.

Hughes batted 2-2 to lead the Thunder hitters. Chadwick, Turbeville, Thurman and catcher Mackenzie Singletary connected for one hit each.

Taylor Lewis, Ward and Priest belted one hit each for the Force. Lauren Gooden pitched the complete game for the Force striking out 6, walking 9 and hitting one batter.

Chadwick pitched the first 3 scoreless innings to pick up the win for the Thunder striking out 9, walking 3 and hitting a batter. Megan West worked the final 2 innings in the circle walking 5, hitting a batter and allowing 2 hits.
