Shelby Pharr pitched a 2-hitter as the Comets defeated the Slammers 9-5 Tuesday night in Bladen Recreation’s 13-16 Softball action at County Park.

Pharr pitched around ten walks and a hit batter while striking out five to pick up the win. Jordan Kinlaw struck out seven for the Slammers while allowing 11 hits, a walk and a hit batter.

The Slammers jumped in front with 3 runs in the first as Johanna Parker, Abbie Cross and Nesiah Davis-McKoy drew walks to load the bases with no outs. Comet shortstop Jordan Benson snagged a pop-up behind second, and Pharr struck out the next batter.

However Kinlaw reached on an error as Parker scored. Gray Guy walked to force home Cross, and Tinyauh Rhoda was hit by a pitch to force home Davis-McKoy.

The Comets answered in the home first as Brittney Landreth slapped a single to rightfield, and Katelyn Willoughby was hit by a pitch. Benson walloped a drive down the rightfield line and circled the bases with Landreth and Willoughby scoring ahead of her to tie the game 3-3.

Lauren Pait smacked a single off the pitcher in the Comet second, and Emily Pait hammered a double to right-centerfield that scored Lauren Pait with the go-ahead run.

Kinlaw beat out an infield hit and took second base on a throwing error in the Slammer third inning. Kinlaw stole third then dashed home on a passed ball to tie the game 4-4.

Landreth legged out an infield hit to begin the Comet third inning, and Willoughby reached base on a passed third strike. Benson’s infield hit scored Landreth, and Erica Storms belted a single to centerfield that scored Willoughby and Benson. Pharr reached base on an error that scored Storms for an 8-4 lead.

Emily Pait reached base on a passed third strike in the Comet fourth and raced home when Lauren Taylor laced a single to rightfield that pushed the lead to 9-4.

Parker rapped a single to centerfield to begin the Slammer fifth inning. Parker stole second and third base, and after Cross walked, Davis-McKoy’s fielder’s choice scored Parker.

Benson batted 2-2 with the home run and 4 runs batted in. Storms finished 2-2 at the plate with 2 rbi’s. Landreth also turned in a perfect 2-2 night at the plate. Pharr and Emily Pait slammed doubles, and Amber Hickman, Lauren Pait and Taylor added one hit each.

Parker and Kinlaw connected for one hit each for the Slammers.
