The Slammers scored 3 runs in the fifth inning to snap a 6-6 tie and defeat the Comets 9-6 Monday night in Bladen Recreation 13-16 softball action.

Johanna Parker walked, stole second and circled the bases on a throwing error with the go-ahead run in the Slammer fifth. Pitcher Jordan Kinlaw punched a single to centerfield and scored, and Carlie West walked and scored the third run of the inning.

Catcher Nesiah Davis-McKoy lined a run-scoring double to left in the first inning, and drilled a run-scoring triple off the centerfield fence in the third inning. Davis-McKoy also scored a run.

Kinlaw finished 2-2 at the plate with a double and 3 runs scored. West cracked a run-scoring single in the third inning. Aniyah McKoy connected for the other Slammer hit. Teammate Trinity Smith drove in a run.

Parker scored twice, and Olivia Hollingsworth and Lauren Council scored one run each for the Slammers.

Alyssa Suggs batted 2-2 with a run-scoring triple and 2 runs scored for the Comets. Teammate Kaitlynn Willoughby singled and scored a run. Brooke Priest, Kylee Ward and Briley Stanley scored the other Comet runs. Pitcher Amelia Brisson drove in a run.

Kinlaw pitched a 3-hitter and struck out 7 batters to pick up the win for the Slammers.
