Kaylee Fisher and Racquel Whittington belted singles and scored the deciding runs in the 6th inning as the Heat snapped an 8-8 tie and claimed a 10-8 victory over the Riptide Tuesday night in Bladen Recreation 8-10 softball action.

The Riptide jumped in front early as Jamison Raynor, Mollie Sasser, Tinsley Allen and Mallorie Hunt smashed singles, and Ruby Liggitt was hit by a pitch. All 5 of them scored for a 5-0 Riptide 1st inning lead.

The Heat answered with 2 runs in the 2nd inning as Angelina Jones and Khloe Campbell smacked singles, and Jeniyah Whittington knocked them in with a double.

Keira Dowless and Madisyn Butler ignited a 6-run Heat rally in the 3rd inning with singles, and Tiyana Singletary was hit by a pitch. Avery Tatum’s fielder’s choice plated Dowless, before Fisher crushed a home run to the right-center field fence that scored Butler and Singletary ahead of her.

Racquel Whittington pounded a home run to left-center field, and Avianna Whittington singled and circled the bases on a throwing error to push the Heat lead to 8-5.

Raynor led off the Riptide 3rd inning with a single and scored on Sasser’s fielder’s choice to trim the margin to 8-6. Hunt was hit by a pitch in the 4th inning and came around to score as the lead was cut to 8-7.

The Riptide tied the game in the 5th inning as Raynor slammed a double and scored the tying run. Raynor batted 3-for-3 with a double and 3 runs scored to lead the Riptide hitters. Hunt finished with 2 runs scored. Sasser struck out 8 batters in her 6 innings in the circle.

Fisher walloped a home run and a triple, batted 3-for-3 and drove in 3 runs to lead the Heat hitters. Racquel Whittington slugged a home run, batted 2-for-2 and scored twice. Jeniyah Whittington slammed 2 doubles and batted 2-for-2. Teammate Kynslie Kinlaw smashed a double.

Avianna Whittington pitched the first 3 innings for the Heat and struck out 2 batters. Fisher pitched the final 3 innings and also struck out 2 batters.
