Maycee Kinlaw struck out 13 batters as the Rockets built a 9-0 lead and defeated the Riptide 9-2 Monday night in Bladen Recreation 8-10 softball action.

Adyson Carroll walloped a 1-out solo home run to ignite a 3-run Rocket 1st inning. Kinlaw drilled a triple to right-center field, and Elizabeth Miller yanked a single to left. Kinlaw and Miller both scored.

Carley Rhodes and Carroll belted singles in the Rockets 3rd inning, and Kinlaw cleaned the bases with a home run that pushed the Rocket lead to 6-0.

Rhodes slammed a 2-out double in the Rockets 5th inning, and Carroll blasted a triple to right that scored Rhodes. Kinlaw pounded a triple to right-center field that drove in Carroll. Miller smashed a triple to right-center field that plated Kinlaw and padded the lead to 9-0.

Mollie Sasser reached base on catcher’s interference in the Riptide half of the fifth, and Tinsley Allen and Mallorie Hunt smacked singles that scored Sasser and Allen. Sasser struck out 11 batters and cracked a 1st inning single for the other Riptide hit.

Kinlaw batted 3-for-3 with 2 triples, a home run and 3 runs scored for the Rockets. Carroll also finished 3-for-3 at the plate with a home run, a triple and 3 runs scored. Miller batted 2-for-3 with a triple and a run scored. Rhodes was also 2-for-3 with a double and 2 runs scored.
