The Bladen County Relay For Life event scheduled April 25 has been postponed, according to event lead Mary Williams. A new date has not been determined at this time.
The American Cancer Society has suspended all in-person events through mid-May because of the coronavirus pandemic.
Relay For Life raises money for cancer research. Bladen County businesses, churches, civic groups and other volunteers have worked together as teams during past events.
Every year during the event bags with candles inside are placed around the track with names of those affected by cancer. At dark, all lighting is shut down, the candles are lit and the names are announced, in honor and memory of those effected by cancer.
