Bladen County Schools announced Thursday that the system will transition to an asynchronous remote learning day Friday in response to the anticipated impact of Hurricane Helene. All schools and departments will be closed.
Additionally, all after-school activities for Thursday and Friday are canceled, the school system announced.
The decision comes as a State of Emergency has been declared in North Carolina and with the potential for heavy rain and wind gusts up to 40 mph.
Teachers will either send assignments home with students Thursday afternoon or provide assignments and instructions through Canvas. Student attendance during remote learning will be verified by completing and submitting assignments.
