There is a new face in the Bladen County Smart Start office. Introduced to the county on Tuesday, July 19, Lynn Vick will be the new director for Bladen Smart Start.

Patricia Faulk, a member of the Bladen Smart Start board, introduced Vick to a room full of Bladen County school employees and Smart Start officials. “[Vick] is coming to us with a wealth of knowledge and experience… We have a lot to look forward to,” said Faulk.

“I’m really excited to be here, I’ve been met with open arms,” said Vick. “We have got off to a great start with a wonderful staff, we have a good team and we really just want to hit the floor running.”

Vick also said that one of her goals is to truly involve the providers and parents in the program. “We have some strong expectations,” she said.

The previous director of the Smart Start Program, Lillian Bryant, was also recognized and given a plaque for her 12 years of service to the program. “She is still the face of Smart Start in Bladen County,” said Faulk.

Bryant said she was glad to have Vick in the program and looks forward to seeing the growth and development that will happen under Vick’s guidance.

“I will always be a part of Smart Start, it will always be in my heart,” said Bryant.
