The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch for Bladen County and surrounding areas as Tropical Cyclone Number 10 makes its way along the North Carolina coast beginning Monday afternoon.

The watch begins at 2 p.m. Monday and continues through Tuesday morning.

The National Weather Service has increased the amount of rain Bladen County may receive from the storm. Rain is expected to begin Monday afternoon and thunderstorms are possible. The forecast calls for between two and three inches Monday night and, perhaps, more than half an inch Tuesday.

Heavy rainfall may lead to ponding water or road closures. Between 3 to 6 inches of rain is expected within most of the watch area with localized higher amounts possible.

A flash flood watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding.
