The 30th annual Bladen We Care Gala will take place Friday, April 5th, 2019, at 7 p.m. at Cape Fear Vineyard and Winery in Elizabethtown.
At the gala there will be a silent auction and heavy hors d’oeuvres will be available. The Legacy Motown Revue will perform and pay tribute to the legends of Motown music. The Gala is sponsored by Smithfield.
All of the funds raised through its two main fund raisers, the Byron H. Gooden Golf Tournament and the Gala, remain in Bladen County to help Bladen County residents. Proceeds from the event are used to provide support for local residents with medical-related issues on a short-term basis. The way it works is the group receives referrals and there is a checklist of criteria a person must meet. If the person meets the criteria, the group will make a determination about assistance.
In recent years, Bladen We Care has expanded their efforts to include nursing scholarships for local residents at Bladen Community College and UNCP.
The Byron H Gooden Bladen We Care Golf Tournament is set for Thursday, April 25th, at Vineyard Golf at White Lake, with a rain date of May 2. The Byron Gooden Bladen We Care Golf Tournament, a 4-man Captain’s Choice event, features a two tournament format. The first tournament will start at 8:30 a.m. and the second tournament at 1 p.m. The cost to enter will be $600 a team with individuals at $150 each. Individuals may enter and be assigned to a team.
