The 29th annual Bladen We Care Gala will take place Friday, April 20th, 2018, at 7 p.m. at The Venue at White Lake. The theme for this year’s event is island casual.
At the gala there will be a live auction and heavy hors d’oeuvres will be available. The Blackwater Rhythm and Blues Band, which is always a crowd favorite, will also perform. The Gala is sponsored by Smithfield.
All of the funds raised through its two main fund raisers, the Byron H. Gooden Golf Tournament and the Gala, remain in Bladen County to help Bladen County residents. Proceeds from the event are used to provide support for local residents with unforeseen medically related issues on a short term basis. The way it works is the group receives referrals and there is a checklist of criteria a person must meet. If the person meets the criteria, the committee will then meet and review the applications and make determinations regarding assistance.
In recent years, Bladen We Care has expanded their efforts to include nursing scholarships for local residents at Bladen Community College and UNCP.
