Bladenboro Town HallThe Bladenboro Town Board met on Monday evening and discussed several matters. The board named Melanie Hester, as interim town administrator, following John O’Daniel’s resignation.

Hester said the board discussed and approved the purchase of new administrative hardware, and software for the town at an estimated cost of $60,000. She added part of the purchase will be financed.

The board approved a grant acknowledgment for the Golden Leaf Foundation, a resolution for wastewater regionalization, and approved the Fair Housing Complaint Procedure.

The board voted to approve the purchase of a backhoe in the amount of $61,000.

Hester said the board opted not to take any action regarding a new poultry processing business.

Ken Cain did not attend the meeting, and the board did not address a vehicle violation courtesy letter sent to Cain, according to Hester.

The board held a closed session to discuss personnel matters, and took no action on the matter in open session.
