The Bladenboro Board of Commissioners has scheduled a public hearing on its proposed budget Monday during the regularly scheduled monthly meeting. The meeting is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. at Town Hall on Ivey Street and is open to the public.

Bladenboro Town Administrator Melanie Hester presented her $1.664 million budget proposal for 2015-16 to the board May 5. The proposal keeps the tax rate at 59 cents per $100 of property value. The board must approve a budget by June 30. The fiscal year begins July 1.

The budget hearing is one of three public hearings planned for Monday’s meeting. The others are for the Bladen/Columbus regional hazard mitigation plan and for an ordinance to amend Chapter 151, which deals with minimum housing standards.

After the public hearings, the board will consider taking action about each matter, according to its agenda.

Other items on the agenda include:

** Consent agenda: Approval of agenda items, minutes, departmental reports and budget amendments.

** Hear from Bladenboro Housing Authority Joint Housing Director Stevie Craig.

** Consideration of various purchases for McLean Park.

** Discussion of Pine Ridge railroad crossing.

** Consideration of expanding from a 20 mile to a 30 mile radius for patrol cars.

** Town administrator’s report.

** Matters of interest to board members (non-voting issues).
