Whether you want a tattoo, to learn how to paint, take a yoga class or just chat, Art Junkies Tattoo and Art Studio in Bladenboro is the place to go.

Elton Locklear, owner of Art Junkies, said he became interested in tattoos as an extension of his interest in art. He explained that a tattoo is nothing more than a traveling canvass. When asked what his most unique tattoo request has been, Locklear smiled and said a portrait tattoo. He said those are his favorite to do because of the challenge of taking a portrait and recreating it as a tattoo.

Art Junkies offers an array of services from the traditional tattoo to eyebrow tattoos and more. Locklear said he wanted to open a tattoo parlor in Lumberton but the flooding that came with Hurricane Matthew left so much devastation, it was hard to find a location.

Locklear said he thought about Bladenboro and was able to find the perfect location for his business. In addition to tattoos, Art Junkies offers art classes, face painting for children and even guitar classes.

Locklear said he also adding Karoke nights as well.

Locklear, who grew up in Robeson County, said his interest in art began as aa young child drawing pictures. He said as far back as he can remember he has always  loved to draw.

Locklear has earned degrees from the Savannah College of Art Design and the Illinois Institute of Art.

Judy Sessoms teaches Yoga, Pilates and Tai Chi classes at the store as well. Sessoms offers two classes on Monday and Wednesday from 9 a.m. until 10 .m. and 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. and two classes again Tuesday and Thursday from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m. and from 7 p.m. until 8 p.m.

Locklear said he is available at the store Tuesday through Thursday from 10 .m. until 10 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. until 11 p.m. For an appointment for a tattoo, call 910-888-9156.
