61 year old Scott Barnett of Bladenboro died in an early morning wreck on U.S. 701 early Wednesday morning. Barnett was pronounced dead at the scene. The accident occurred about 9 miles south of Clinton.
Barnett’s 2008 Dodge automobile was hit by a 2012 Toyota car driven by Richard Alfonso Hureta, 27, of Four Oaks. Hureta reportedly was attempting to pass a hog truck in a no passing zone.. He was listed in serious condition at New Hanover Medical Center in Wilmington.
