Mathue-H-JohnsonA Bladenboro man was sentenced up to 25 months in prison Tuesday for breaking into a home and stealing firearms.

Under a plea agreement with the state, Mathue H. Johnson, 21, plead guilty in Bladen County Superior Court to breaking and/or entering and possession of a firearm by felon. He was sentenced to between 15 and 25 months in prison and given credit for 281 days served in Bladen County Jail. Charges of larceny after breaking and entering, and possession of a stolen firearm were dismissed.

In court statements, on June 2, 2015, Johnson was seen breaking into a home on Sunset Park Road in Bladenboro. He took three firearms valued at about $800. The firearms were later found and returned to the owner.

Johnson has previously served about five months in the state prison system after being convicted in November 2013 on a charge for assault inflicting serious bodily injury stemming from an incident that took place in January 2013.
