Lauren_Clark_550Bladenboro’s Lauren Clark may have been voted off Biggest Loser but the experience has taught her a lot about herself, she says. She also said there were some really exciting moments for her on the ranch as well.

She said this week’s episode was huge for her because she got to meet Tim Gunn and Ken Paves. Clark said her mom is a huge fan of Gunn but she was excited at getting to work with Paves because of his work in the past with Jessica Simpson.

Lauren said the most exciting part of the most recent episode was getting to see her son and her father. She explained that while contestants are on the ranch there is no contact with their family and friends. Prior to being cast on the Biggest Loser, she said she and her son had only spent about four nights apart, so that was difficult for her. She added that getting to see them on Monday’s episode was great moment.

She also had advice to offer for those who are contemplating weight loss.

“For me I think it is finding some form of motivation,” said Clark.

She also discussed her love for Crossfit training. Clark said that at her heaviest, she weighed 255 pounds. Clark said she would walk into the gym and people would stare at her. She said that didn’t stop her. Clark said anyone can do it, they simply have to build up enough courage to take the first step.

“Find something that motivates you,” she said, of working out.

Clark also described how the experience on Biggest Loser changed once her mom, fellow contestant Vickie Clark, was voted off the show.

“It really went downhill when Momma left,” said Clark.

She added that she didn’t realize how important it was to have her mother present with her during the show until she was voted off.

When asked what her biggest challenge was, Clark said, “My main challenge is getting out of my own way.”

She said that one of the challenges of being home versus being on the ranch is temptation. Clark described how life on the Biggest Loser ranch is very controlled.

“We’re not allowed to leave, our food is purchased for us. There is nothing ‘bad’ in the house,” said Clark.

She said once you leave the ranch and come home, you are confronted with “reality.” Clark said you go to the gas station or you drive around and there are things in front of you that are tempting you. Clark said when she first came home, it was a struggle.

Clark said that one thing she takes away from the show is the fact “there is a warrior inside.”

She said one of the biggest lessons she learned is to not be so hard on herself. She said if you make a mistake at breakfast, then make up for it the rest of the day with a healthy lunch and dinner and add more exercise and don’t let it get you down.

Of the casting experience, Clark said to just be yourself. She said she spent three years auditioning before she finally made it onto the show. She said the year she was selected as a contestant, a friend of hers had a “front of the line” ticket. clark said a few weeks after the audition she was contacted and asked if a family member would like to go on the show with her.

Clark said there was paperwork that had to be completed and she and her mom adjusted their schedules to fit the show.

She said she is looking forward to the season finale, but is also nervous.

“I’m loosing inches,” said Clark.

Clark said her main goals is to present the image of a strong, healthy body type.
