The Bladenboro Town Board met on Monday night and voted to hire a new police officer. Tonya Bullard of St. Pauls is projected to start June 26.

Bullard served as a logistics officer with US Army and achieved the rank of Captain. She completed her Basic Law Enforcement Training at Robeson Community College.
The Bladenboro Police Department is her first assignment as a law enforcement officer. Chief Chris Hunt said he was excited about Bullard joining the force.
“I’m proud to have her. I’m glad she chose to work with the Bladenboro Police Department and serve our citizens. We have good citizens and we are a good town to work for,” said Chief Hunt.
He said Bullard will be an asset to the department. “I feel like she will make the town proud as a police officer,” said Chief Hunt.
