BladenOnline.com followed the progress of former East Bladen basketball coach Alvin Thompson, his son Alvin Thompson, Jr. and their Wake County Cowboys football team at the Pop Warner Super Bowl Play-offs in Florida this past week.
Coach Thompson texted us to thank us for our posting and to share that there are more ties to Bladen County on the Wake County Cowboys team.
One of the players on the team is Buchanan Simmons (No. 16 in the team photo). “Buchanan is a friend of my son and the nephew of Norma Martin of Bladen County,” said Coach Thompson. “Norma and I taught side by side at the old East Bladen High School.”
“A. J. (Alvin, Jr.) and Buchanan have been friends for 5 years and because of your article we were able to connect the dots,” continued Coach Thompson.
