Bladen’s Bloomin’ Agri-Industrial, Inc., announced they have strengthened their partnership with Bladen County earlier this year. The local non-profit’s objective with the county is to create jobs and investment for Bladen County and its’ citizens according to Leon Martin, Chair of Bladen’s Bloomin’ Agri-Industrial, Inc (BBAI).

“Since the inception of BBAI, Bladen County has invested approximately $160,000 in the non-profit real estate and revolving loan program for product development,” Martin stated in a letter to the Bladen County Board of Commissioners, adding, “projects BBAI has developed currently generate tax revenue of more than $160,000 per year. In addition, the projects also generate tens of millions of dollars of economic impact in our local community each year.”

BBAI is a private, non-profit real estate and lending entity and much of the business conducted by the non-profit is done with private companies. There is a long list of investments BBAI has assisted with in Bladen County. The NC DMV Call Center, Bladen Healthcare-Bladenboro, Turnbull Lumber, Cape Fear Vineyard & Winery are only some of the businesses assisted by BBAI.

According to Martin, BBAI is responsible for approximately 1,000 jobs created in Bladen County, and approximately $14 million dollars in real property tax value. Business personal property tax value associated with BBAI projects is over $6 million dollars per year, and over $164,000 of recurring revenue is generated per year along with tens of millions of dollars of economic impact for the county every year Martin reported.

BBAI has also invested $40,000 for Chamber of Commerce staffing and tourism development and held two leadership classes for Bladen County. BBAI was awarded with a national award for Excellence in Innovation in Economic Development.
