CLARKTON – Cape Fear Valley Blood Donor Center still has a critical need for type O blood, Cape Fear Valley Health said Wednesday. The need stems from a nationwide shortage of the blood type, as well as shortage of local blood donors.

Cape Fear Heating & Cooling and BladenOnline.com are hosting a community blood drive Tuesday, July 16, at 8849 U.S. Highway 701 South. The drive will be from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. All blood types are urgently needed, not just type O, says Donnie Byers, Cape Fear Valley Health’s Public Relations Coordinator.

All blood donations stay in the community helping save lives in Bladen, Cumberland, Harnett and Hoke counties.

The Blood Donor Center is Bladen County Hospital’s only source of blood.

Donors at the July 16 drive will receive a T-shirt while supplies and be entered to win a Google Home Mini.
