Residents across the region gathered Tuesday evening to meet and dine with Republican Senator Brent Jackson. Hosted by the Blueberry Growers of NC, the event was held at Lu Mil Vineyard. Although Senator Jackson serves District 10 (Duplin, Johnston, and Sampson Counties), he is a strong supporter of agriculture throughout the State. Senator Jackson is Chairman of the Agriculture and Forestry Awareness Study Commission and Chairman of the Joint Legislative Oversight Committee on Agriculture and Natural and Economic Resources. He was the primary sponsor of Senate Bill 513, the NC Farm Act of 2015.

Senator Jackson spoke of his love of agriculture stating that “Ag is in my blood and I am very passionate about agriculture, It is what brought us to the dance. It is the only industry that gained 6% in the last economic recession.” Also in attendance were Senator Bill Rabon and Representative William Brisson. Senator Jackson spoke highly of them both stating that “they work hand-in-hand with me to help educate those in Raleigh about the importance of agriculture and the unique needs of rural counties”. Senator Jackson is running unopposed for his seat in the Senate.
