Bladen County Seal with In God We Trust 1The Bladen County Board of Commissioners met on Tuesday night and voted to approve a resolution of intent to sell the Bladen County Home Health Agency by a vote of 8-1 with Commissioner Jimmie Smith casting the lone “no” vote.

The board conducted a public hearing for the Home Health agency and no one spoke. The hearing was closed.

The board then made a motion to approve the resolution of intent to sell the Bladen County Home Health Agency. Following the approval of the resolution, the board then considered approving a letter of engagement and HIPAA business associate agreement with Clifton Larson Allen, LLP.

Bladen County Department of Health and Human Services Director David Howard told the board the firm will assist the county with the process of selling the home health agency. Howard also told the same statutes apply to the sale of home health agencies as do to sale or lease a hospital.

The board also approved a public hearing to be conducted on Oct. 3, 2016, regarding Home Health.

The board tabled an item approving a clinical professional services agreement with Columbus County.

Howard said that now the consultants will soon begin the process of gathering the necessary data and put the offer out to at least five potential companies.

In other business, the commissioners voted to approve aa temporary ambulance service agreement with Sampson County. According to Bladen County EMS Director David Howell, on August 31, 2016, Johnston Ambulance Service shut down. Howell said that Johnston Ambulance Service provided non-emergency transports for Sampson County for dialysis patients.

Howell said that Sampson County has reached out for assistance. He said the assistance would consist of providing non-emergency transports for dialysis patients in the Garland area to Clinton. He told the board that the term would be 30 days but not longer than 60 days.

The board approved the measure.
