Boost the ‘Boro held their March meeting on Tuesday evening. Members of the non-profit organization met at Bladenboro Farmers Market to discuss several topics including the upcoming Spring Fling, scholarship opportunities for the community, and more.

Boost the ‘Boro scholarship deadline is April 28. Including BTB’s usual scholarships that are offered each year and the Juanita Stanley Boost the Boro Memorial Scholarship, five scholarships are being offered. The annual Spring Fling event will be held in downtown Bladenboro on April 1st from 10 am until 9 pm. This year, there will be a cupcake contest, hula hoop contest starting at 3 pm, raffle tickets, bounce houses, free face painting for kids, and local talent will perform all day. Charles Ray Peterson shared that the Rivermist Band will play from 6 pm until 9 pm. He stated, “They are the hottest band on the beach right now.”

Boost the ‘Boro President Terry Nance said, “As we are gearing up for our annual Spring Fling, we would like to invite everyone to be a part of our event. Whether you sign up as a food or craft vendor, participate in a contest, or just attend and enjoy a day in downtown Bladenboro, we would be happy to have you.”

Speaking of Bands, The Embers will be the featured band at Beast Fest 2023, according to Peterson.

Aiden Russ, son of Joseph and Natalie Russ, attended the meeting to address the members and ask for ideas and support regarding his Eagle Scout Project. In the Boy Scouts of America, Eagle Scout is the highest achievable rank. Russ shared that he plans to “reinvent” the walking trail in Bladenboro with new signs and sand. He also would like to repaint the benches in town.

Proceeds from the Bounce Houses at Spring Fling will be donated to Russ for his Eagle Scout project. Boost the Boro is very appreciative of the young man’s initiative and desire to improve the town of Bladenboro. Nance stated, “We are excited and honored to partner with Aiden.”
