EAST ARCADIA – Undefeated Antioch Christian Academy edged the Paul Brown Leadership Academy Bulldogs 56-54 Thursday night in boys basketball action.

The Bulldogs rode a 20-point second quarter performance to a 30-24 halftime lead, and T. J. Smith poured in 10 points in the third quarter to keep the game close.

Antioch was up 56-54 with 7 seconds left and missed 2 free throws, but the Bulldogs couldn’t come up with the tying basket.

Paul Brown only made 6 of their 20 free throw attempts. “When you miss 14 out of 20 free throws and you lose by two points, you don’t have to look too far for answers,” said Bulldog Coach Ken Cross.

Smith fired in four 3-point shots and topped the Paul Brown scoring with 19 points. Teammate Gary Mason bombed in a trio of 3-point shots and finished with 16 points.

Jonathan Cox worked the paint for a game-high 21 points for the Gators who raised their record to 9-0. Teammate Jerad Carter pumped in 11 points, and Jay McQueen added 8 points.

The Bulldogs, now 3-2 on the season, will play Friday, Jan. 19th at Antioch.

PBLA (54) – T. J. Smith 19, MyKell McKoy 2, Zarian Brown 5, Gary Mason 16, Marquese Robinson 5, Davion Lacey 5, Darius Willis.
