CLINTON – Clinton remained unbeaten in Four County Conference boys basketball play with a 72-52 victory over West Bladen Friday night.

Jeremiah Pope dropped in 2 baskets, and Tyrion Wright and Tymeir McIntyre drained 3-point shots as the Dark Horses grabbed a 14-8 first quarter lead.

Senior John Bowen popped in a pair of baskets for the Knights, and junior Jonathan Robinson and senior Kalvin Page netted a basket each.

West Bladen fought back with a 12-8 second quarter surge that trimmed the Clinton lead to 22-20 at halftime. Page tossed in a pair of baskets, and seniors Sayaun Dent and John Bowen pumped in a basket and 2 free throws each.

Kris Williams threw in 6 points, and Wright and Dewan Lesane added 5 points each to spark Clinton’s 22-8 third quarter run that opened up a 44-28 lead.

Dent fired in a trio of baskets for West Bladen in the period, and John Bowen sank 2 free throws.

Clinton racked up 28 points in the final quarter to claim the victory. Pope scored 8 of his 14 points in the period. Wright tallied 6 of his 14 points in the quarter, and Williams also shared Clinton scoring honors with 14 points. Lesane scored 4 of his 11 points in the period.

John Bowen attempted to rally the Knights by pouring in a trio of 3-point shots and 5 of 6 free throws in the final quarter. Bowen topped all scorers with 24 points.

Dent nailed a 2-point shot and a trio of free throws in the final period and finished with 15 points. Page connected for 2 baskets and a free throw in the fourth quarter and totaled 11 points for the game.

West Bladen is now 8-4 in league play and 15-7 overall. The Knights will entertain Midway Tuesday night.
