LAKE WACCAMAW – Senior Malcolm Bolden lit up the scoreboard with 28 points Wednesday night as he led East Bladen’s Eagles to a 64-38 non-conference boys’ basketball victory over East Columbus.

Senior Jacob Nixon bombed in a pair of 3-point shots and netted 2 more baskets to ignite a 23-8 1st period Eagle blitz. Bolden threw in a trio of baskets, and senior Zamar Lewis powered in a basket and a free throw. Seniors Yontee Dobson and Malaki Monroe chipped in with a basket each.

Bolden drained a pair of 3-point shots and another basket in the 2nd period. Lewis and sophomore Rodney Lacewell worked the paint for a basket each as the Eagle lead grew to 35-14 at halftime.

Bolden blistered the nets in the 3rd quarter with 5 baskets. Sophomore Dominick Collins popped in a pair of buckets, Monroe connected on a 3-point shot, and Lewis banged in another basket as the lead swelled to 54-25.

Junior Chris Harding and Bolden tossed in 2 baskets each in the final period, and Collins added a hoop.

Nixon followed Bolden on the East Bladen scoring list with 10 points. Lewis finished with 7 points. Collins tallied 6 points, and Monroe totaled 5 points. Guard Jay’zeon Brown led the Gators with 14 points, and Cainan Patrick followed with 8 points.

Coach Aking Elting’s Eagles remained unbeaten at 3-0 on the season and will host Whiteville Friday night.
