ELIZABETHTOWN – Junior Jacob Nixon poured in seven 3-point shots and scored 25 points to lead a long-range barrage that carried East Bladen’s Eagles to a 68-34 Southeastern Athletic Conference boys’ basketball victory over Midway Tuesday night.

The Eagles connected on 12 3-point shots as sophomore Lee Barnes fired in a trio of 3-balls, and juniors Malcolm Bolden and Cam White nailed one 3-point shot each.

Nixon also racked up 5 steals, 4 rebounds and 2 assists. Bolden pumped in 17 points. Barnes finished with 9 points and 3 assists. Junior Zamar Lewis grabbed 11 rebounds and had 3 steals for the Eagles.

Junior Yontee Dobson pulled down 7 rebounds. Junior Jordan Mathis contributed 4 rebounds and 3 steals, and senior Nazire Smith dished out 4 assists and had 3 rebounds for the winners.

Nixon blistered the nets with four 3-point shots in the opening quarter, and Bolden and White also delivered 3-balls as the Eagles built a 22-13 lead. Bolden popped in 4 baskets in the 2nd period, and Barnes and Nixon drained 3-balls as the East halftime lead ballooned to 38-18.

Two more 3-balls and another basket by Nixon and 2 baskets each from Bolden and Lewis grew the East lead to 56-27 at the 3rd quarter break. Barnes drilled in a pair of 3-balls in the final period.

Davis Williams topped the Midway scoring with 12 points.

Coach Aking Elting’s Eagles remained unbeaten in SAC-7 play with a 2-0 record and are 7-4 overall. Their game with Red Springs Thursday night has been postponed due to covid protocols at Red Springs. East Bladen will travel to Clinton Friday if weather permits.
